With Rusty Nails

I was dead,
A slave to unrighteousness.
I wanted it all, but knew it was nothing.
I felt death loom over me.
I loved sin and hated it.
My life has been in darkness.
I was bind and lost.
I have granted myself pleasure that should never be tasted.
It was bitter, but I wanted more and more.
My hunger was great, and I knew it would never be satisfied.
I tried to wash my mouth with other pleasures,
But the taste remained.
It was so bitter and horrid.
Then I saw a man.
He was on a tree, suspended by two rusty nails.
He called out to me,
And I listened.
He came down off that tree, the nails still in his hands,
Blood was dripping from the holes that the rusty nails had made.
He wrapped me in his arms, kissed my head and said
“You, my son, are free.
The things you have tasted are forgotten,
And that taste will be washed out.
There is no need to cry,
You are free.
Do you see these rusty nails in my hands?
And in my feet?
Do you see the blood pouring out?
This blood is for you.
I will wash that taint off of your body with this blood.
I will also give you My living water.
Those who drink of it will never thirst again for the pleasures and passions of this world.
It will wash that horrid taste from your mouth.
I have died so you may live.
That cloud that has loomed over you is gone.
I am the Light,
All the darkness has vanished.”
I look of the living water that He had offered,
It was so sweet and refreshing,
My soul had finally felt filled.
I no longer longed for those passions that once held me.
I truly was free.
He then ascended into heaven,
And He now sits with His Father.
I know that one day I will join that Man.
The Man who took those rusty nails for me.
With rusty nails, he has freed me from my sin,
And also from my suffering.
I now taste something sweeter than anything.
With rusty nails, I live.
