J-Band of the Week: Boris

This band is a strange case for me.  I only recently realized that they are a Japanese band.  Which is very strange because I have been listening to them for the last few years…  I know.  Strange, right?  I guess the reason I never caught that they were singing in Japanese is that their music is just so sludgy.  Now that I know that they are Japanese, I can hear that they are Japanese.  I don’t know how to describe them, because they change each album, but they keep a sludgy, metal sound underneath whatever they play.  Yet they are not too lethargic with their sound.  Although they claim their roots in punk, they are nothing but, and would never claim any sort of style.  Always changing and never being labeled.

“Statement”  carries a stronger heavy metal sound

“My Neighbor Satan” actually carries a bit of pop with it.  It keeps that sludge on the bottom to give it a sound like none other.

Their videos are simple, but their music rocks.
