J-Band of the Week: Birushanah

If Sambomaster was the feel-good band of j-rock, then Birushanah is on the opposite side of the spectrum.  They have only had one album with three songs, yet the album still caps out to about 40 minutes of music.  Their music is a fusion of sludge/doom metal with a bit of traditional Japanese soundings.  It is slight, but if you listen, you can hear the little tidbits of traditional music.  Their music is experimental, and the sound will change right in the middle of the song without much warning, which is good, considering the songs are around 20 minutes long.

This is not a band to be listened to lightly.  They require patience and an open mind for music to really take in, but if you like any sort of metal or just like experimental, then I recommend giving them a try.  Here is where my friend discovered the band: http://www.metal-archives.com/band.php?id=96395

Here is a video of the Birushanah at a live show in Czech.  And considering how unknown this band is, I was surprised I found that much.
